The Fourth Annual OSERA Symposium is a large state-wide leadership conference with attendance ranging from 100-250 students. ASSOU is hosting the annual OSERA Symposium here at SOU on May 20th (all day event) serving hundreds of students across the state. This is an opportunity to send SOU students to a leadership building conference without additional costs for lodging/transportation. ASSOU is sponsoring any interested students so there is no cost to SOU students.

This event is planned by the student representatives on the Oregon Students Equal Rights Alliance. It’s a leadership development opportunity directed at providing organizing, campaigning, management, policy knowledge/skills as well as space which is geared towards highlighting the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ communities and the intersection of Gender and Social Justice. The symposium provides caucus spaces, networking opportunities, and workshops developed by members of the community designed to offer various experiences which are often rare for otherwise marginalized communities. This conference will prioritize the needs, voices, and issues of LGBTQIA+ students while challenging societal norms around gender identity and sexual orientation. We want to provide an opportunity to queer and trans students to come together and learn in ways that are often not provided on individual campuses due to lack of support and resources.
Any students who are interested in attending should stop by the ASSOU office or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org including their contact info(phone and email) any accommodations and their dietary restrictions.
